![]() That said, at least LibreOffice lets you have your custom themes and actually offers a variety of different interface layouts, which I think is a nice touch: ![]() I wanted to see how LibreOffice would compare on my netbook, and frankly it's better than the new Word, but still "worse" than the old version: There's wayyyy too much god damn whitespace in modern UIs, and it's awful. Also, never set the program to start at startup - it hooks to Explorer.exe that way - you want it to hook to explorer_old.exe (Reactos taskbar in other words).> It's whitespace. Also, turn off Autohelp when you go into Properties, otherwise it'll keep coming up with an error that it can't find the Help doc (program dates back to '98, after all). In Properties, avoid the Miscellaneous tab altogether - only select the Watchcat (Main options), Rules (where you can make custom rules to hide a program, etc), Folders (add whatever shortcut you want to the systray) and About (self explanatory) tabs. Turn it off and never use it - it crashes Explorer. It also has features to adjust desktop icons, but from experience, DON'T touch that. Change the program's systray icon to whatever you want. Allows you to put your shortcuts to the systray - by default, it has a Computer directory that allows you to view all the folders on your computer, and best of all, a network icon that lets you select whatever router, device or computer you have on your network. Like for say, I have WIN+* set up so it hides the taskbar so I can game without the taskbar in view. Allows you to assign certain keyboard combos for certain stuff. Allows you to save processes that you want hidden as "rules" and that save, so each time you load WatchCat up, it will auto-hide them. I replaced Taskbar Hide with the program above. Make sure you only run the program from a location you want to keep it in, otherwise on next launch the program won't appear in the taskbar - if that happens, read the readme file I've included which includes a fix. It saves it's settings to the registry, but the program is portable (= no install). It also dates back to the Win95 era, so it fits in well with Classic Theme. It's like a swiss army knife tons of features. No more having to hide Shell Host Experience tab on each login. It also allows you to hide taskbar processes like Taskbar Hide, but this one is superior, because it also remembers what you want it to do. They should work now.ĥ:52:11 GMT -8 The Jackal said:I stumbled upon a new program, purely by chance, that enables you to do this. Inside that folder, copy and paste the shortcuts (or delete the ones that don't work) and kill the ROS taskbar from the task manager (explorer_old.exe) and then re-load it. Download this: /open?id=1R5Ie84YVat4Z0Kh-si6ZF9rDkO1MPdts, follow the readme file contained with in, and then, in your file manager's address bar, paste this in: %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch. Not to worry tho - I created my own, that does work with it. You'll need to weed out the problematic ones and remove them.Įven if you did have a one there (some do when they first start using ROS taskbar), it'd be broken. Like the system tray (icons on the bottom right), some of them can be broken. Can't click any icons in the bottom left Yep, you'll need a program to hide certain ghost processes that like to linger around - try Taskbar Hide, it's pretty user friendly and should do the job: /download_taskbar_hide/ There is a blank application I can't get rid of. If the other one does it, you might need to make your own. I made these start buttons by ripping them from virtual machine installs at a 1920x1080p resolution, so if you're viewing your desktop at a higher resolution, that might be the cause. Also Anixx did the font reg file, so thank him as well.ġ6:01:20 GMT -8 The Jackal said:-The start button when pressed was very blurry. Remember to thank Spitfire as this was he's work, not mine, I merely put it all together. ![]() If you want the volume control back, run the VolumeTray.ahk script. Run the StartButton.ahk script - this will launch the ReactOS taskbar!ġ1. "StartButton" = Windows 95 start button, "StartButton2000" = Windows 2k Start button.ġ0. Go into either folder to select a version of the script with a different Start button. Run the reg file (Classic Font.reg) to change the font, otherwise you'll have a screwed up taskbar.ĩ. Make sure the contents are like as follows: i./77AKI51.pngĨ. Create a new folder on your C: drive called Classic.ħ. Download and install Classic Shell + AHK before you do anythingĢ. All you need to do is download it, extract it, and place it all under C:\Classic\ and run it, and it should work.ĭownload: /open?id=1kdKq_oUUhoJng7PeNG7mLiSseJdusWk3ġ. ![]() 11:17:26 GMT -8 The Jackal said:Ok, I've uploaded my own edited version of this script. ![]()
